He married Charlotte Shane UNKNOWN. Charlotte was born in Greensburg, Indiana 22 Apr 1863. Charlotte was the daughter of Christopher Shane and Nancy Anderson. Charlotte died January 11, 1944 in Tacoma, Washington.

John A. Shackleford and Charlotte Shane had the following children:

96 i. Charlotte⁶ Shackleford was born March 24, 1891. Charlotte died December 9, 1980 at 89 years of age.

97 ii. Elizabeth Shackleford was born in ? July 16, 1895. Elizabeth died September 3, 1989 in Des Moines, Washington, at 94 years of age.

98 iii. Martha Shackleford was born January 1898. Martha died UNKNOWN.
