9. James² Shackleford , Jr. (James B.¹) was born in Fauquier County, Virginia February 17, 1763. James died 1824 in Mason County, Kentucky, at 61 years of age.

He married Elizabeth Clarke UNKNOWN. Elizabeth was born in Northumberland County, Virginia 1775. Elizabeth was the daughter of Charles Clarke and Cynthia Berkeley. Elizabeth died 1821 at 46 years of age. From Anna Singer: "At 18, this James served in theVA Militia in Washington's last campaign at Yorktown. This is our Revolutionary War connection, in case anyone wants to join the DAR. In 1790, he moved with his father James to Mason County, KY where the father had bought 3000 acres of land from Gen. Henry Lee of VA. His son James Madison Shackleford moved to Iowa and is the ancestor of "Maggie" of the DesMoines family trust."

James Shackleford, Jr. and Elizabeth Clarke had the following children:
